Driver CPC Periodic Training

From September 10th 2009 [2008 for bus drivers] every professional lorry and bus driver of vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes must undergo 35 hours periodic training every 5 years.

The 35 hours periodic training must be completed by September 10th, 2014 [for those already holding C1, C, CDE entitlement; D1 or D entitlement by 2013.]

Thereafter, 35 hours ongoing training will be required every 5 years.

One advantage of the Driver CPC training is that the 35 hours can be spread over a 5 year period, as long as you attend a minimum of 7 hours at any one time.

This is by far the best way to implement training as:

  • the cost of courses can be spread over the 5 years.
  • down-time from work, can be spread over the 5 years.
  • the 'panic bulge' of drivers scrambling to access courses as the deadline draws near can be avoided!

Swift Transport Training is JAUPT approved, Certificate No. AC00329.

Driver CPC Periodic training courses will be run at our Belfast Training Centre or, if you prefer, 'in company'. Please phone, e-mail or call in to see us if you would like more information.

Everyone driving in the industry has to have a Driver CPC qualification by September 10th 2014 (2013 for PCV)

You can use these to benefit your company by incorporating Driver CPC courses as:

  • Induction Courses for new employees
  • Annual Driver Assessments
  • SAFED (or similar)
  • First Aid
  • Manual Handling
  • Tachograph Training (digital)
  • ADR (Dangerous Goods Handling)

So, with a little thought and planning, the Driver CPC Courses can be very much to your company's advantage. The courses we are currently offering are:

  • drivers hours and tachographs
  • accident procedure and first aid
  • manual handling and slips
  • drivers daily walk round checks and safe loading
  • drivers legal obligations
  • carriage of dangerous goods

Price for a day's training £50pp + DVA download fee

Courses run week days and Saturdays

Don't leave it too late!

* We anticipate that there will be a 'panic bulge' as thousands of drivers approach the first en masse deadline of September 2014.

* It may be difficult to access courses by then and companies may well need to have several drivers away on courses simultaneously.

* Worse still, drivers may not gain the qualification in time.
